Invalid bankroll management is one of the most frequent reasons of losing money in sports betting. So if you want to become successful tipster, you need to manage your bankroll and know how much you can bet on different odds.

First of all, you can’t place the same amount for all kinds of odds. If your bankroll is $100 and you bet $5 for odds 1.1 (1/10 in fractional) and 1.9 (9/10 in fractional) – you are in trouble and will lose you bankroll very soon, even if you have good predictions.

Bankroll management is one of the most important things in betting.

How much of your bankroll should you bet?

Professional players recommend to bet form 2 to 5 percent of your bankroll for odds form 1.9 to 1.99.

Percentage of bankroll for 1 bet depends of this parameters:

  • ROI
  • Odds
  • Risk coefficient

I will show you how amount of 1 bet changes from odds form 1.1 to 3.00 for bankroll = 1000$ with risk coefficient low/medium/high and then you can calculate nominal of your bets to yours bankroll.

Risk coefficient = Low

2.90 (19/10) High 4.65% $46.48
3.00 (2/1) High 4.46% $44.57

Important!

You need to recalculate your bankroll and amount of bet after every bet (lose or win).

For example, you have starting bankroll 1000$, you place bet with odds 2.2 with Medium risk coefficient (33.36$) and won this bet. Than you will have 1000$ + (33.36*2.20 – 33.36) = 1000$ + 40.03$ = 1040.03$ and your next bet you need to calculate with bankroll 1040.03$.

If you lost the bet, your bankroll will be 1000$ – 33.36$ = 966.64$ and next bet will be recalculated from this amount.

Conclusion

I don’t recommend you to use high risk coefficient with your bets even if you have good ROI and understand your sport very well. With high risk coefficient you will not have enough money (bankroll) to survive after big loosing streaks.

For example, if you usually place your bets for odds 1.90, probability to lose 10 bets in a row is

(1-1/1.9)*10=0.000568   and 1/0.000568=1758.37

It means that every 1760 bets you will lose 10 bets in a row with odds =1.9 and you will have 423$ form yours start bankroll (1000$).

Yes, bankroll management isn’t the most interesting thing that you know, but it’s that point that can transform your betting to professional level.

Our main goal is to save our bankroll and then to win money. If you will haven’t bankroll, you can’t win. Remember it. Players, who like to bet 10-15% on odds 1.9, lose their bankroll very, very often. Don’t be like them.
